RAID INFORMATION

Do you both have and actively use (please note the bold):

Deadly Boss Mods or BigWigs or Deus Vox? DBM

A stable internet connection? What speed? Yes, and 6mb/s
Ventrilo? Yes
A working mic? I do now, yes

Previous raid experience (including pre TBC and pre WotLK)? I started playing WoW in BC and had the pleasure/misfortune of raiding with many different guilds on the Demon Soul server before finding my way to Paradigm. A core group of us (Chazz, Alloy, Eph, LTP) attempted to raid Gruuls/Mag/SSC/The Eye with a guild called Karda who never did seem to understand what was going on. We managed to move on to ZA runs that went well and were farming bears towards the end of BC. When we finally got the chance to raid in Paradigm things picked up and we did BT/Sunwell up until Wotlk came out. After the transfer, I raided with MT through Naxx/Maly/OS (server 2nd Glory) healing on my pally. For Ulduar I raided on my Rogue until I left WoW for about half a year.

Do you have any World of Logs or WWS reports that show your raid performance? I haven't been in any raids that have been parsed on my hunter yet, but rest assured I will make sure to have some available when I do so that you can take a look and give me any suggestions you may have

Explain your raid spec as best as you can. My current survival spec is based on the gear level I have been able to obtain in my short time at level 80. It is a replenishment spec that focuses on maximizing agility/crit to take advantage of various talents in the Survival tree (Expose Weakness, Thrill of the Hunt, Lightning Reflexes). Rather than a dps rotation, this build utilizes a priority order to maximize dps. Kill Shot is always prioritized first but only used in execute range, followed by Explosive shot, Black Arrow, Serpent Sting, Aimed Shot, and finally Steady Shot to fill the gaps. Explosive shot jumps to number one whenever LnL is up and Black Arrow/Serpent Sting exchange places in the order while using 2 piece T9 (which I currently am). I glyph for Explosive Shot (higher crit), Kill Shot (reduced CD), and Serpent Sting (longer duration). I use a wolf pet during raiding for the Furious Howl talent, which is the highest dps increase of any of the pet talents currently. Worth noting with this spec: I take 1/2 Go For The Throat as it provides a much larger dps incremental increase than going from 1 to 2 points. I also take 2/3 Expose weakness since a high crit % should allow for maximum uptime despite it only being a 66% proc rate.

Give a list of the consumables, including numbers, that you think you should bring for a full 4 hour progression-based raid. Four Flasks of Endless Rage, a stack of Blackened Dragonfin, a stack of Spiced Mammoth Treats for my pet, and a whole bunch of speed pots (generally 20-30). I also tend to bring a stack of Health and Mana pots for situational use in circumstances where we do not need to maximize dps.

What role do you see yourself filling, generally speaking? Feel free to elaborate on the obvious. To quote a recent outstanding app "DPS." My primary purpose as a hunter is going to be to provide the highest amount of dps as I possibly can, but that certainly doesn't mean that I am limited to only doing that. Misdirect to begin fights is essential, as well as using it in the middle of fights if there are add spawns or target switching. There are also circumstances where I may have to kite something, which will require Concussive Shot, Frost Traps, Wing Clip, Disengage, etc. With generally front-loaded dps I will most likely be responsible for add management if the adds are small and need to go down fast, or bringing down orbs as Chazz pointed out to me on the Anub fight. In my current spec I provide the Replenishment buff, which may or may not be necessary given the raid comp but is useful to have nonetheless. Tranquilizing shot is also quite useful in a few situations. Finally, as any dps should be fully aware of, my number one priority is ALWAYS to stay alive. Hunters have Feign Death on 25 sec CD and Deterrence to help out in oh shit moments, and since I should NEVER find myself taking damage from void zones and the like, I really have no excuse not to be alive unless the 24 other guys are lying dead around me.

Please list your availability for each day of the week. We are an EAST COAST SERVER (EST) so please indicate your availability in that timezone. Please note that we raid 4 nights a week, typically from 7:30 - 11:30, sometimes going a little later. Making an average of 3 raids a week (75% attendance) is expected.

Sun:All Day
Mon:All Day
Tue:All Day
Wed:All Day
Thu:All Day
Fri:All Day
Sat:All Day

Typically we do not take official breaks during raids. Instead, we encourage people to take time during trash to use the bathroom, get drinks or snacks, etc. Make your own breaks. That being said, do you have regular prior commitments during the 7:30 - 11:30 timeframe that may require you to take an extended break (Examples: Homework, Family Time, Dinner)? No.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING RAIDING

Regardless of Blizzard's paradigm when it comes to "Bring the person, not the class", there will always be times when we will need an alternate class or spec to fill a raid spot. Ocassionally, we will ask people to sit and/or switch specs for an encounter or even a night if we feel that we need to stack in our favor.

You are expected to show up on time and at the raid entrance to the best of your ability fully stocked, repaired, and read up on the fights we'll be attempting for the night. Not being ready in any of these departments may result in lower invite priority, lower loot priority, and a general disdain from your fellow guildies. We're a tightly knit guild: trust me, you don't want that.

We handle drops with a Loot Council. Loot is given out based on attendance, performance, attitude, and aptitude. As a new recruit, understand that you are lower on the list to receive loot and may not see drops sent your way until your trial period is over. What you earn is relative to what you put in for all of the above criteria.

Lastly, but certainly not least, we expect people to be reasonable in terms of behavior on vent and in game. This goes for anything as simple as being courteous to fellow guildies and keeping vent clear when needed to the more subtle aspects of being able to fess up to your own mistakes, actively taking criticism and taking responsibility for your own actions. We do not enforce age restrictions for our members, but you are expected to act and behave like an adult regardless.

***Please note that this subsection does NOT contain questions, but rather statements pertaining to our raid protocol. Feel free to respond however, if you have anything you'd like to comment on regarding these statements.***

MORE ABOUT YOU

What prompted you to apply to Midnight Train? Well, I just recently returned from a 6 month hiatus from WoW. I have been with MT since they were Paradigm back on Demon Soul. I have a lot of friends in this guild and I genuinely enjoy every minute I spend playing this game primarily because of the people who I get to play it with. I also respect the progression and the name that Midnight Train has made for itself on this server, so as a raider I am 100% committed to upholding that perception. I view the people in MT as mature and intelligent people who love to play WoW and are serious when it comes to raiding and progression, and I share those values whole-heartedly. I am not coming back to raiding just to hang out and have fun, I will do everything that I can to live up to the expectations that MT has for all of its raiders.

What guilds have you been in and what were your reasons for leaving? MT is the only guild I have been in on Mannoroth. Like I said earlier, I was in a guild currently known as Karda (also transferred to this server) for quite some time before joining Paradigm.

Do you have anyone in your previous guild(s) who can vouch for you? Alahnia, Mightymomma, Thetech... some of you will know who I'm talking about.

Do you have anyone in Midnight Train who can vouch for you? I'm hoping that everyone who I raided with will vouch for me, but please do not ask Eph or Chazz to vouch for me. You are not likely to get a straight answer...

Do you own the account that holds the character you wish to raid with? Absolutely.

Is there anyone else who plays the account other than yourself? (If so, understand that actions taken by the character represent YOU regardless of who is playing at the time, and will reflect as such in regards to said behavior.) The only other person who has ever had my info is Chazz, but my guess is that he doesn't have it anymore.

We're a guild built on open communications. We realize that when it's raid time, things can be said that are harsh and critical, but it's only to better the player and the guild as a whole, and not a direct attack. Are you able to take criticism with an open mind? If not, are you willing to learn? Yes, this is something that has always been important to me. I have raided with four different characters now at level 80, and I expected the people around me to make me better. Criticism is a funny thing, it tugs at our inherent nature to be resolute in our thoughts and actions, yet it is the solitary component of becoming better at what we do. I have run across plenty of people who are unwilling to take criticism or whose idea of criticism is deriding people without offering solutions. Needless to say, I don't believe those are the type of the people in MT, and as a member I continue to rely on the people around me to make me a better player at every turn.

Post a screenshot of your UI. Please explain any hidden keybinds or macros you may have. I will spare you the laughter of looking at my UI. I use the default UI and have always used it. Is this a good idea? Absolutely not, and I have come to terms with that and am currently exploring the wonders of Grid. When I have it set up I will gladly post it up here.

CLOSING STATEMENTS - SIGNATURE

This is going to sound way too formal, but it saves us a lot of heartache in the long run, so make sure you read and understand this all.

-By submitting this application, you are applying to join Midnight Train, an EST Mannoroth PvE focused guild.

-If you are asked to go on a trial run, understand that you will be treated as any other member on the run in terms of performance. If you run a trial on a raid, mechanics will be explained if needed, but it is still expected that you have a strong foundation and understanding of your class. You are expected to cover the cost of reagents, potions, elixirs, repairs, etc. on your own.

-If you are asked to go on a trial run, you will NOT receive priority on loot over anyone unless that item would otherwise be DE'd. This includes off-spec items for other people that are part of the raid.

-By signing below with your applying character's name and the words "I AGREE TO THE PREVIOUS STATEMENTS", you affirm that the information you've provided is as accurate as you can make it, that this character is YOUR OWN and ON YOUR OWN ACCOUNT, and that you understand and agree with the previous closing statements, including this one.
